When Did Occupational Therapy Start?
What is the field of occupational therapy like?
I am considering working as an occupational therapy and I would like to know some more information about the field. I have read the occupational outlook handbook, but I feel like the description of it is really broad. I would love to hear any personal stories if anyone would like to share. For therapists, what kind of work do you do with your patients? For patients, what was your therapy like? What activities did you do for what?
I starred because I'm also interested in going into the field of occupational therapy and would like to learn more about it. I hope you don't mind! Take care. :)
What bachelors degree should I obtain in order to get into occupational therapy school?
I understand there are pre occupational therapy degrees but the schools my family can afford do not offer those, are there any other majors that could benefit my to getting into occupational therapy school for my masters. All answers are appreciated:)
You should visit the websites or talk with advisors at the various occupational therapy schools that you may be interested in. Most of the occupational therapy programs that I have looked at require a certain number of prerequisite courses and a certain number of prerequisite hours of applicants. However, they do not require an undergraduate degree. The bachelors degree is awarded as students are working on their masters in occupational therapy. Of course, different grad schools have different requirements, so you should check with the school that you are interested in to see what their requirements are. Good luck!
What Is Occupational Therapy?
what so they do in medical field and how long does it take to become one for Associates ? excuse my english typing too fast lol
Occupational therapy is as a profession concerned with promoting health and well being through occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational therapists achieve this outcome by enabling people to do things that will enhance their ability to participate or by modifying the environment to better support participation. Occupational therapists use careful analysis of physical, environmental, psychosocial, mental, spiritual, political and cultural factors to identify barriers to occupation.
A master's degree or higher in occupational therapy is the typical minimum requirement for entry into the field. In addition, occupational therapists must attend an academic program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) in order to sit for the national certifying exam.
What classes should I take if I want to major in occupational therapy?
I'm going to be starting my second year of college this fall. I plan on transferring to a school that has a occupational therapy program bachelors/masters combined. (hopefully) Anyways I was wondering if their are any key courses I should take? Occupational Therapy- is a holistic health care profession that aims to promote health by enabling individuals to perform meaningful and purposeful activities across the lifespan.
CherryKoolAid clearly has no idea what occupational therapists do. Hint: It has nothing to do with finding jobs.
No, it depends on the requirements of the program you want to gain admission into
Does anyone know what is involved when your child does occupational therapy for eating issues?
My 3 year old is going to start occupational therapy for eating issues. Just trying to find out what I should expect! Thanks The therapy is for textures/reflux and picky eating!
Expect for it to take 2 to 3 years. Food chaining (what most occupational therapist do) is a slow process that focuses on the long term, not the short term. Expect to be bored and to bring in the same food every single week. Expect for them to try the nice way at first and then they might start "forcing" him which sucks to see but it will benefit your child in the long run to have a healthy diet.
